Thread Painting 101

 Create a more detailed and extravagant appearance to all of your projects by learning the art of thread painting. Can you envision a beautiful landscape on your new sofa pillows, or an exquisitely detailed wall hanging of the baby hanging in the nursery? Thread painting can be used on quilts, home décor, garments, and a variety of other items! This is one of the most exciting and accessible techniques you can learn, that will add that touch of excellence to your sewing projects.

 In this class, you will learn free-motion stitching for enhancing landscapes and appliqué work. You will learn to thread paint on mountains, hills, trees, flowers, animals, sky, water, etc. Anyone can do this! You will learn about atmospheric perspective, batting, basting options, using different thread types and needles including “sliver” and metallic, when and where to use stabilizers. This is a great class for everyone looking for new ways to enhance their projects. 

 Phyllis Binkley has been teaching for 30 years and has a Master’s Degree in fine art. Her work has been sold and specially commissioned.
